Potatoes farming can be profitable if done wisely and diligently, but a small mistake can lead to fatal losses. Here are some tips to produce at least 100-150 bags per acre:

1. Good land preparation:

Potatoes need well-drained fertile soil, often sandy loam or loam soils. Continuous tilling during the rainy season can cause hard pads that inhibit potato root development.

Deep ploughing before planting can break the hard pads, improve drainage, and boost tuber growth and expansion.

2. Use certified potato seeds:

Certified seeds are free of diseases, pests, and mechanical damage and can result in a higher yield.

5. Provide irrigation, especially in the second month:

Water is crucial for tuber growth and expansion in the second month.

However, avoid excess irrigation in the last month as it can cause rotting.
