Rosecoco Beans
Rosecoco beans farming presents an ideal opportunity for farmers seeking a low-maintenance crop with minimal production costs and returns within 3-4 months.
One of the advantages of growing Rosecoco beans is their high demand in the market, making sales straightforward. Prices for a 90 kg bag of Rosecoco beans range from Ksh. 10,000 to Ksh. 15,000.
How to Grow Rosecoco Beans
Like other beans, Rosecoco beans thrive in well-drained soils that are not excessively fertile. The best soil type for bean farming is sandy loam. Deep, highly fertile soils enriched with manure are unsuitable for growing beans, as they promote leaf growth at the expense of pod and bean development.
To plant, space the seeds 45 cm apart with 20 cm between each hole, using two seeds per hole. The seed rate per acre is 16 to 20 kgs. The beans will mature in about 90 days. Rosecoco GLP2 is the most common variety.

For best results, topdress the plants with DAP fertilizer on the 14th day after sowing to enhance root and shoot development. Follow up with NPK 17-17-17 about 30 days after sowing to boost flowering.

It is essential to keep the farm free of weeds at all times. Avoid weeding during rain, as it can spread fungal diseases. For affordable and effective weed control, use selective herbicides such as Mr. Bean Plus or Bean Clean, which are suitable for both early and post-emergence weed control.
Common pests affecting beans include the bean borer and aphids. To manage these pests, spray Thunder at a rate of 10 ml per 20 litres of water on the 20th and 35th days after sowing. Additionally, use Nativo for leaf rust control and Issacop for grey spot diseases.
The good news is that Rosecoco beans do not require high levels of rainfall to thrive; they can grow well even in dry areas.
